Music Sub-Genres

Gothic Rock

(sometimes called Goth Rock) is a genre of Rock music that originated during the late 1970s. Originally bands from the genre had strong ties to the English Punk and emerging Post Punk styles. The genre itself was defined as a separate movement from punk rock during the early 1980s. Gothic rock artists deal with dark themes and intellectual movements such as gothic horror, Romanticism, existential philosophy, and nihilism.

Industrial Gothic Metal

This is a term used to refer to bands who perform Gothic Heavy Metal while making extensive use of elements from Industrial Rock and Industrial Heavy Metal and bands that perform Industrial/Rock/Industrial metal that make extensive use of gothic metal elements. Often including some Electronica/Electro elements in to their sounds as well.
