There is a term "Medical Marijuana", that we are sure everyone is familiar with, this term refers to use of the whole unprocessed Marijuana plant or its basic extracts to treat various diseases or symptoms.
Scientific study of the chemicals found in the Marijuana plant, commonly known as cannabinoids, continued research of cannabinoids is starting to lead to FDA-approved medications that contain cannabinoid chemicals.
Due to the fact that the Marijuana plant contains chemicals that help to treat a range of illnesses or symptoms, many people argue that it should be legal for medical purposes, and many others argue that it should be fully legal, actually, a growing number of American States have legalised Marijuana for medical purposes. The UK's national health service, has this to say about Cannabis.
Studies have shown that Marijuana can help kill certain cancer cells and reduce the size of others. Some evidence from one cell culture study suggests that purified extracts from whole-plant Marijuana can slow the growth of cancer cells from one of the most serious types of brain tumors.
Scientists are also conducting preclinical and clinical trials with Marijuana and its extracts to treat numerous diseases and conditions, such as the following;-
- Substance Use Disorders
- Mental Disorders

Around the WorldThe Cannabis plant has a history of medicinal use dating back over a countless amount of years, as well as many cultures. Its current use is controversial, but the American Medical Association, the Minnesota Medical Association, the American Society of Addiction Medicine, and other medical organizations have issued statements opposing its use for medicinal purposes. The American Academy of Pediatrics states that while cannabinoids may have potential as therapy for a number of medical conditions, they do not recommend it until more research is done. They, along with the American Medical Association and the Minnesota Medical Association, call for moving cannabis out of DEA Schedule I to facilitate this research.
Medical cannabis can be administered using a variety of methods, including vaporizing or smoking dried buds, eating extracts, taking capsules or using oral sprays. Synthetic cannabinoids are available as prescription drugs in some countries, these include: dronabinol and nabilone. Recreational use of cannabis is illegal in most parts of the world, but the medical use of cannabis is legal in certain countries, including Austria, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain. In the United States, federal law outlaws all cannabis use, while 20 states and the District of Columbia no longer prosecute individuals for the possession or sale of Marijuana, as long as the individuals are in compliance with the medical purposes state's marijuana sale regulations.
However, an appeals court ruled in January 2014 that a 2007 Ninth Circuit ruling remains binding in relation to the ongoing illegality, in federal legislative terms, of Californian cannabis dispensaries, reaffirming the impact of the federal Controlled Substances Act.
The UK is also starting to make moves to legalise Marijuana;-
Growing Marijuana can be a fun, tiring process that many enjoy, but there are a few random facts about the plant that some probably won't know. It is in fact one of the most interesting and useful plants on the planet
Human urine works as a fertilizer. Our own urine has properties that make it useful as a fertilizer. It’s high in nitrogen which is one of the three major nutrients that marijuana requires (the others being phosphorous and potassium). It is suggested that a bladderful of urine needs to be diluted with about a gallon of water, and if not used right away ammonia may form.
The plant can be grown anywhere. It’s already a remarkably adaptive plant for outdoor use. Actually, it is one of the strongest germinating seeds on the planet.
Archaeological digs place the first instance of cannabis cultivation at around 6,000 BC in Ancient China. It was used then as a food source, for clothing, and for medicinal purposes.
Marijuana can grow using only fish waste. For far too long, fish have been excreting waste and not helping humans in that endeavor. But, now, with the invention of “Aquaponics”—a combination of Aquafarming and Hydroponics—the waste can actually prove to be beneficial. The water from a fish tank is taken to the plants in a basic hydroponic system. The fish urine and other waste are transformed by certain bacteria in the waste to make nitrates. Marijuana plants use those nitrates as nutrients to assist in the growing process.
You can determine the sex when the seeds just sprout. This is a tactic that hasn’t been proven by the scientific community but it has about a 90% success rate. Seeds that sprout through the top or the bottom tend to be female while “side-sprouters” are generally male. There’s really no explanation for this, and it certainly doesn’t mean that you should toss out any side-sprouters. But, it is an interesting thing to look for next time you grow marijuana.
