Pyromania

Is this really a fetish, or should it be thought of as a disorder? Well, we can only guess that would come down to what the individual does with their Pyromania.

Pyromania is thought by some as an impulse control disorder in which individuals repeatedly fail to resist impulses to deliberately start fires, in order to relieve tension or for instant gratification.

The term pyromania comes from the Greek word πῦρ (pyr, fire). Pyromania and pyromaniacs are distinct from arson, the pursuit of personal, monetary or political gain. It is multiple, deliberate and purposeful fire setting rather than accidental.

There wold be a difference between criminal and non-criminal fires, a nd this difference would possibly create the difference between Pyromania as a fetish and Pyromania as a disorder.

"Impulses" are not entirely outside of the domain of "control", as is often a misconception, and b how those impulses are channeled can often be a choice.

The compulsion does not require that the fire must be destructive to property. A pyromaniac may feel relief by simply starting a lighter and observing the flame for a few minutes, causing no harm to anyone or any property.

Also, between concenting adults, there can be some pleasure gained, but we will make no suggestions of ways this can be acted upon.
