Straight Edge Lifestyles
Straight edge, isn't necessarily a fetish, even though we've included it in that category, it is much more of a lifestyle choice. We have also included it in the music genre category, and the same could be said, Straight Edge isn't necessarily a music genre, but it did grow from the Punk/Rock/Hardcore scene.
It is a belief that humans should have strength, pride, dignity, honor, and self respect; that they shouldn't engage in activities that are a disgrace to their minds and bodies.
It was first inspired by a song from the band Minor Threat during the early '80s, originating from one line in a 45 second song, "I've got the straight edge".
This is a list of bands who have been associated with the Straight Edge Lifestyles subculture, opinions will vary, not all of these bands have or had all straight edge members, and some of them stopped identifying as such at some point during their careers.

It grew out of Washington DC and was taken up to Boston by someone named Al Bareal.
Straight edge has three simple rules;-
- No Drinking Alcohol
- No Taking Drugs
- No Smoking.
There is also "Hardline", which is similar to straight edge but with more rules;-
- No Caffine
- Be a vegetarian or vegan
- No sex unless without procreation
- No imported chocolate
- No Pornography
- No masterbating
- These are just some of the other rules.
There are two types of straight edge lifestyles the positive an the militant. Boston is known for it's militant type edge, Boston Beatdown.
Straight Edge is considered to be a lifestyle, and not a label. Practitioners will tell you - There is no example either your straight edge or not.
